It feels like déjà vu last night after Arsenal were knocked out of the Champions League, in yet another 1-5 home lose against Bayern Munich. Arsenal’s 10-2 aggregate defeat was the worst of any English side in Champions League history.
Arsenal took the lead in the 20th minute with a Walcott goal. But overturning a 4 point deficit seemed impossible by the 55th minute mark when Bayern were awarded a penalty that also resulted in the sending off of defender Laurent Koscielny. Lewandoski placed a precise penalty and effectively kill off the tie.
The onslaught continued Bayern scored four goals in 17 minutes. The defeat left a lot of Arsenal fans disappointed, as hundreds went to the streets rally, calling for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to step down.
